The weekend was a flurry of socialising and christmas carols. Well, there was 1 or 2 christmas carols. We attended the Amnesty Carols for freedom concert in Christchurch cathedral mistakingly thinking that there would be christmas carols. The first half there was some, but the rest of the time it was opera singers murdering songs that we love. The second half got worse when a singer songwriter chap came on and sang 4 songs. We were not impressed and left after he finished singing. The mate S was not impressed and muttered something about it supposed to be Carols for freedom. We had a good night thought and sampled the culinery delights of Bull and Castle. Its a branch of FX Buckleys so understandtably, they are short on vegetarian options. They have a lovely pretend open fire and the place felt warm and cosy. I was full of christmas cheer having wandered around the streets checking out the lights and taking pics.
Yesterday was the long awaited Mod meet and xmas drinkies. It was great fun and great to see everyone. They all loved their new clothing. I have to say I am well impressed with the printing this time around. We got the spud in color and they have team spud written on the back. So they have hoodie and a t-shirt each so they seemed happy with their lot. Some bevvies and a few platters of food went down well. It was good to catch up with everyone as with so many people it can be hard to get everyone together at the same time. Lots of talk all things potato related with regards next year being the year of the Potato as designated by the UN. And lest we forget the ranting, the meet was quite well timed as there had been some minor tantrums and silliness during the last few weeks so the lads blew off some steam.
We ended up in Pantibar and bumped into a few other spudlets there. The place was quite busy for a Sunday night and it was good to see. Thankfully I have no plans for the rest of the week, I'm going to relax and perhaps go training depending on how lazy I feel :) The main christmas party is on Wednesday and we are expected to attend. If the last few ones are anything to go by, its usually pants. But an email went around from the boss boss saying if we were not attending, we had to reply to the email. Instilling some festive cheer into us all so I may show my face for a while and take some pics. The best one is usually our team night out which is next week on the Thursday. It should be good fun.
