I finally got around to taking pictures of the lights. Mammy2 had great patience with me and my camera and tripod. I think next year I may invest in a new fancy camera. Matilda, the 35MM has been acting up recently, I'm going to get her looked at but in the meantime I have been thinking about splashing out on a new one. Depending on the finances of course. Well, today is christmas eve and I have to say even though I am in work, this christmas has been the
best one in a long time. Since Mam even. Every year I rush around, organising this and that and not taking the time to enjoy everything. This year we did exactly what we wanted to do. We went to the christmas fair with the mates. We headed to the christmas carols in the National Concert Hall, which was great fun. We didn't do titch drinkies but as luck would have it , A and her gf C were calling around for pictionary so we invited a few heads over and it was
mighty craic. Really good fun. Our man and his new boyf also dropped in for a while to say hi and pass on a fridge magnet. Lots of fun was had.
I think a lot of it has to do with the kid being happy and settled and not living with us :) Also, last year was such a bad year all around, the worst since Mam I think, so this year has been fab compared to it. Myself and Mammy2 have just enjoyed being the 2 of us again and christmas music and festive cheer. Today we are heading out to pick the kid up, with some christmas music and santa hats. On the way home we are dropping into the in-laws and wishing them a happy christmas. Then its home to cook the ham for the dinner, watch some christmassy movies and relax. We have all the potatoes and trimmings ready for tomorrow so hopefully all will go well.
We also received good news from the clinic. We finally have an appointment which I am chuffed about. Its on Jan 11th, a Friday which I have already booked off. Hopefully the tests will show all is well and then they might treat us. Fingers crossed at any rate. If they are doing the tests then they might be a lot more open minded about things. The month of January is already looking busy, with a true life movie night planned for the 2nd weekend, then its off to here for Mammy2's birthday and a relaxing weekend and then over to Holland for carnival with a group of people for the first weekend in Feb. Its all go! We still haven't decided what we are going holiday wise next year, I think we'll probably head to Scotland for a week as we both love it there and then perhaps a cruise depending on finances again. As we are talking about buying an apartment next year and finally being an adult. Not sure about the adult bit but anyways.
The kid has been ringing the odd time to keep us up to date with her various illnesses. She rang yesterday so see what time we are dropping out for her at. I told her it would be in the evening as I have to work. I also said if she wanted, the boyf could come down to visit Mam at the weekend. Her response was and I quote "Shelly, how long do you think I am staying with you guys for? I'm heading back on stephen's day. " Merry christmas to you too. So I explained that she was going back but that she had to come down with us to visit the relatives. I know how she loves that. It was funny last night, A's gf C has a teenager, she's around 14 and reminded us so much of the
kid. She had lots of black eye make up and a slipknot t-shirt. However, she joined in with all the games and loved Uno. Mostly because she was winning I think. We had a christmas quiz beforehand and there was killings. Seriously peace and good will to all was not the theme. But it was fun. We also got a gift of charades which of course had to be tested :)
