She's a funny girl. Saturday morning, she barges into the bedroom to annouce that she was going to start going to the gym and needed the lend of some clothes. Apart from my training gear, all I have is a tracksuit bottoms and runners. The face on her when she removed the bottoms from the wardrobe. I informed her she was working out, not going clubbing.
Five minutes later we hear her on the phone to D, her best mate:
"Yeah, its me, have you anything I could wear to the gym, all Shelly has is these disgusting tracksuit bottoms that make me look like a scanger and I'll throw up if I have to wear them".
I never thought you could throw up from wearing the wrong sort of clothes but anyhow. We were going grocery shopping so we dropped them to the gym . Mammy 2 gave them 15 minutes before they'd be out of the gym and on the bus.
Shopping done and home to watch the Ulster match when a Call me arrives on the phone. I ring her and she annouces that she threw up in the gym and was heading to town to shop. Apparently she worked so hard , she got sick. I'd say it was more like not having a proper breakfast and then throwing up. Mad woman.
We had forum meet that night which she wasn't impressed with. When she's in this mood, she wants us to do whatever she wants to do. She's an odd one. She's still waxing lyrical about the dreads. I annouced to Mammy2 I couldn't see the gf lasting much longer. Sure enough, we arrived home on Saturday night and she told us she'd broke it off with her, over the phone. She's such a fecker
for doing it like that. Sunday morning I informed her the least she could have done was spoke to her face to face. Then she annouces that she rang the ex in Holland on his mobile for over half an hour. I cannot wait to see the phone bill this month.
Pocket money is gone for the next month. She has to learn that she can't just do things like this.
There was major lippage for a while, I'm amazed she got the cereal into her mouth. She spent all of yesterday shopping for a hat and gloves , rather D was shopping for a hat and gloves. I think D is expecting a change in the weather and hasn't informed us about it! Sister's night last night, we rented out Hide and Seek, which wasn't bad. Considering the usual drivel we rent out, this was alright. And then as it was early we popped Show Me Love in. Such a cute film..
I'm feeling much refreshed after the weekend relaxing and am heading training tonight. I will probably be dead by tomorrow morning as its been a while!

missing ovaries
I took a pregnancy test yesterday to see if the result would differ from the night before. Negative.
I don't know why I thought 12 hours would make a difference. I was a bit peeved about it yesterday but I've gotten over it today!
As mammy2 says if its meant to happen it will, or something equally Yoda like. The kid got her hair done yesterday, although I don't know why as she's insisting on getting dreads, not as in go to hairdresser and get it done, but more like grow your own and stick some beeswax in them. Personally, I think she's mad. The amount of preening and brushing and flicking she does with her hair. I can't see her leaving it for the best part of a month not washing it etc to get dreads. We shall see. I dropped into the hairdress to pick her up but she was still getting stuff done, so I sat and waited.
There were about four hair dressers standing around chatting and I started to get nervous.
I don't know if I mentioned before that I think hairdressers are like web designers when they see a bad site. They just want to get it and re-design it. When hairdressers see dodgy hair , they want to dive right in their with a scissors. Enter me. I've been letting it grow for the last while, but even I am at the stage now where I know its needs a trim. I sat there, envisioning these girls coming down from the ceiling on ropes, ala Charlie's Angels, scisscors in one hand and moose in the other and by the time the kid is finished, I look like something from a Wella commercial.
We went and got dinner then, the usual for herself, chicken nuggets and chips, the stable diet of a teenager! Whilst texting, and chewing her food, she tried to tell me something about lack of free text messages. Meteor have this great idea of if you buy 20 euro credit every month, you have unlimited free texts to other Meteor customers. However, because it had been a while since we bought credit, she got loads of credit with her new phone, the free texts ran out. She had the nerve to ask for more credit , whilst pointing the finger at me?! I told her in no uncertain terms that she would be getting credit for another month and wasn't it enough that we spent a fortune getting her hair done. That shut her up; for about 5 minutes and she was off talking about dreads then at the same time as eyeing up some gothic type girlie in the seat next to us.
Onto things of a more serious nature, the kid got a txt from the gf on yesterday morning so say she had been assaulted by the taxi driver who was bringing her home. She was reluctant to make a statement to the guards as she said she had a few drinks on her on the night and didn't get the drivers reg or id. But we convinced her that it was important for her to do this. We also wanted to make sure that she was okay with this, it was horrible enough to go through the ordeal without having to recount it in detail to a cop.
She made her statement and then it was back to the flat for cuddles from the kid.

its 30 degrees
its too hot. Today its supposed to go up to 30 degrees. I mean, we're irish, we're used to soft rain not 24 degress before 8 in the morning. Walking to the DART this morning I was boiling.
So, its been a while since I've update mainly because there's not much to say. The kid has been behaving herself. Her and her gf are ridiculously cute together. My sugar level rises every time I pass them and they're gazing into each other's eyes. Fingers crossed it lasts else the fallout will be hell. On Toast.
She still hasn't got a job , spends most of the night and into the wee hours of the morning up 'drawing'. Her muse must only hit her around 2 in the morning. Then she wonders why she's feeling ill. The gf stayed over on Saturday night and they sat up until 7 watching DVD's? What is with teenagers and their lack of need for sleep?
Mad kids altogether.
Well, I am six days late. Its like this taboo subject between Mammy2 and myself. We're both afraid of getting our hopes up. If nothing happens today, I think I will get a pregnancy test and get it over with. This waiting malarky is not good for the stress levels. I know its only our 3rd attempt and sometimes it could take 6 months to a year, but I feel like we are doing everything right.
Thankfully, no-one has mentioned how teenage girls get pregant every week. My head would
actually explode.
The weekend was funny, Mammy2 had wrote an article for the Tribune and they wanted a pic
of us to illustrate it. We didn't know they were going to put us on the front as well as in the main
article. We felt the pic was cheezy, the mates thought it was cute! Mammy2 was interviewed by Anna Livia radio station, its a local Dublin station last night on the same subject, gay marriage. She did brilliantly. She is such a good talker and I know I am biased but she's great!
While I can't see gay marriage in our lifetime, I would hope that raising the issue will force the government to realise its not going to go away.

girlfriends
They are offically girlfriends and they are so cute. They had their first date on Wednesday night, they went to the cinema together to see Batman returns. The kid got her flowers. Bless her cottens, who knew she could be so nice!
The weekend was nice and relaxing compared with the previous weekend, Friday night they kid had a sleepover in the girlfriends. They were having a slumber party so she wanted to stay over. Us being the overprotective parents that we are had to meet the girl first, so herself and the kid came back to the apartment for dinner first and then they headed out to hers. She seems a lovely girl, very down to earth and chatty. We shall see how long it lasts, the kid has a habit of breaking hearts.
Friday night was like old times, myself and Mammy2 on the couch watching Xena, yes, how sterotypical are we! Anyhew, Saturday we started looking at venues for our anniversay do which is in 2 months, we're 5 years married so we've decided to celebrate. With the last 2 years being so hard, a celebration is in order. We had a look at a few locations, they have to call us back with quotes for the champagne and finger food. Looking forward to it now.
The evening was spent in front of the telly watching Live 8, it was good, although there were no boy bands , so naturally I was disappointed! I was impressed by Robbie Williams, whilst I'm not a fan , he's a great entertainer. Madonna was also good, Mariah Carey was dreadful, asking someone to hand her water. I would have soaked her in it. I was too tired to stay up for The Who and Pink Floyd.
Yesterday, the kid paid her first visit to the in-laws for Sunday dinner and lived up to the title of moody teenager by hanging in the sitting room and watching Kerang. She was very well behaved and didn't seem too scared of Mammy2's auntie who calls over for dinner of a Sunday. She slept after dinner whilst Mammy2 tried re-configuring the telly to record off Digital. Seeing as the kid didn't get to bed until 6 on Friday night, she was bound to be wrecked.
I was waiting for the results of the Westmeath match to come through as they weren't on the telly. Eventually we got the text to say that Westmeath were beaten by Clare, Clare of all people?? They shouldn't know what to do with a football, hurling is their game. To add insult to injury, Paidi annouced he was going to step down as manager after the season was finished. What a feckin crap day for football??!
We had our sister's night last night, horror movies and munchies. White noise was supposed to be a thriller, there are no words, its pants. Creep was a bit better if a tad gory, british horror tends to go up that extra notch with blood and guts. Luckily for me Liar Liar was on the telly after Creep, and I didn't have to sit up all hours with the kid because she was scared!
Into my 4th week here in the new job, and settling in alright. The only downside is the being on call every 2nd weekend.I'm sure its something I'll get used to.
