New Potatoes

Today has to have been one of the most unproductive whilst supposed to be productive days in a long time. The server is up and down like a jockey and I am getting the stupidest error message ever from my java app. There's no main class defined. As if I wouldn't define a main class? Back to my favourite subject, potatoes. As it has been a bad year for potatoes I have not had the pleasure of having new potatoes yet, you know the ones. Floury, fall apart at the touch of a fork. I have to stop describing else I may start drooling at my desk and my work mates already think I am a werid one. Its the whole meerkat country music thing that has them slightly perturbed. I have oft bemoaned the lack of new potatoes to my tea buddy and what do you think she did. At the weekend, she purchased a bag of new potatoes for me. I am beyond happy. I cannot wait to cook them and at the moment am having potato foreplay ;) Nyoms!

The kid had her first portfolio course interview this morning. She wasn't too happy about it. According to Mammy2, she wanted to take a year out. From what was what I wondered? I mean, its not as if she is under any pressure? Teenagers, I'll never understand them. Anyhew, the signs are good and they want her to come in and register on Friday. She has 2 more interviews tomorrow and so hopefully she'll have her pick of courses. When she has decided that the whole year out thing isn't going to work out. In a few days we'll be in Rome. We had a chat with the 2 girls. The mate K wanted to know if she would be allowed wear her new rocks with the knifes sticking out of them on the plane. When you consider they take a nail clippers off you, we said that it might be best to leave them here. The kid is also loaning her some jeans as all she has are short skirts and I explained in as much a restrained tone as possible that the italian men are somewhat different from the irish men and I may get arrested for batying them up and I didn't really fancy spending my holiday under lock and key. Thankfully they appeared to have listened to what I said, it makes a pleasent change.

Yesterday we caught up with the mate J. Since aquiring a girlfriend, we haven't seen much of her and as she's a private person at the best of times, a whole 2 weeks without seeing her would involve god only knows what stories she might have neglected to share. And I was right. She had purchased an ibook no less. She's turning to the Mac dark side. We had a lovely night, tried out an Indian restaurent on Manor Street. A few years ago, the only
way you would have got me within a 10 yard radius of Manor Street was under garda escort but the place has really developed and I wasn't scared at all. Until we got to Smithfield and there was a group of teenage girls sitting against the wall. I took a detour whilst brave Mammy2 and the mate faced the music. Not that anything happened but the potential is always there. One could get their eye taken out by a velour tracksuit.

I am so looking forward to my holiday. The day job is starting to get quite stressful and I don't like to stress about work as a rule. I prefer to save my stress for something much more worthwhile like life ;) Rome in less then 4 days and a whole week off work.
