An interesting weekend so say the least. Spending time with people under the height of 3 ft is always fun.
Thankfully, things have calmed down with Mammy2 and the kid, both of them having worked through their depressive moods. Friday night, after work drinks with the lads and then onto meet a mate. I was so tired having worked 11 hours that day and after work drinks with JGG was not a good idea. Keeping up with him when he's throwing back the pints is difficult. Also consindering I'm only pint sized, there's no where for the alcohol to go.
With all the extra time I was forced to put in over the last few days my manager mentioned time in lieu which is a rarity in my company, a day. Not too bad, although if the a job offer comes in next week, happy days!
Saturday we headed out to Mammy2's sister and her group of small chimps. 3 kids under the age of 6, fun was to be had. When the eldest was about 6 months old I had painted loads of cartoons on her wall , everything from Tiger to Looney Tunes, and now that the two boys had their own room, the sister-in-law was wondering would I paint some stuff on their walls as well.
Now painting while a 6 month old looks on is one thing, painting to an audience of toddlers is a whole different scenario.
Now, considering I hadn't painted in well over 2 years, I was impressed with the result. The painting I managed fine, it was the barrage of questions that were fired at me from the kids.
Everything from "Why are you a girl" to "Will you wipe my bum"
Of course I was unacustomed to wiping of bums, and the sister-in-law was informed of this straight away, I added it to my to-do list.
Then the questions about who I was in relation to Mammy2, the word cousin was thrown out. Mammy2 told them I was a 'friend'.
They seemed relatively happy with the big Spiderman pic on the wall as well as Mr Incredible, I was quite wary as kids can be touch critics!
We finished up around 8ish, having no white paint to fill in the rest so we must return another day to finish it. Arrived home to the stressed out child. Dramatic sighs and declarations that she has NOTHING done for the Junior Cert were replaced by delighted noises when we annouced we had brought take-out home. Takeout for her reads curry chips and coke, very healthy altogether.
Bad idea though, as there followed two hours of heartburn, or that is what she claimed she was suffering from. Hence no sleep until 1 as she complained of tummy pains, headaches and the old burning feeling. I wasn't sure what I was supposed to do, so I just waited until she got tired enough and tucked her.
She's having a strange week, she's been very tactile, something our family are not known for. She needs constant affection and is quite clingy. She's still sleeping in with us. Not literally now, but in a made up bed beside ours.
I think it could be to due to the anniversary mass next week, its the only thing I can think of.
This morning, we got started on her prep sheet for art and did some Maths whilst she had a hissy fit about school, again. In between that, she was addressing my tummy, or as its affectionately known as, the zygote?! I mean, we tried last week and won't be able to test for another week, but she's demanding I take a test. I stressed that it was too early and a waste of a test.
Finally, we bought one and showed her that it said on the back of it that you should wait until after your period is due. She has reluctantly accepted that.
We got a text from Mammy2's sister saying the youngest chap woke up this morning, he had fallen alseep before we left, asking where the painting cousins were?!
The week ahead is a mad one even though I had thought it might be relaxing. Hoping to head training this week on Monday and Wednesday, with the parenting meet on Tuesday. The sister and her boyf fly in on Thursday evening, it will be great to see her again. She's home until Tuesday.
All fun and capers, best stock up on my energy levels then..
